Introduction
So this is my first blog that I'm doing on my own will, I always looked at writing as a thing to do for a better grade, but this is not the purpose of my blog. This blog I want to talk about the crazy Thanks-giving weekend that happened, and maybe it will make me feel a little bit better talking about it, and getting it off my chest. Summary So my Thanks giving weekend started off great as I hope everyone else did. I enjoy my Saturday off from school, and work and enjoyed time at my girlfriends family's house considering we spent last Thanks-giving at my family's house. The Thanks-giving weekend started out great, we sat around the TV watching the football games watching beer, waiting for the feast to be finished. Once the feast was finished we did what many families did and ate our turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and other holiday foods that the typical American's eat. After thanks giving was my friend Danny's 21st birthday, so we were going to take him out for his 21st birthday, while doing so we pre-gamed at his birthday party that his family through for him. That party ended at about 9:30 after that we took him to my friend Tim's house and we all pre-gamed even more waiting for midnight to take Danny out for his first legal drink. When 12 O-clock happened we walked Danny to a local bar called John Morton's. When we got to the bar I paid for my friends first shot as part of a tradition he had to take a Four-horseman, which is honestly a terrible drink, but it's a tradition. when we were there we happen to stumble across my brother Will, who basically is the king of bars. Bar's are his place of comfort, and control. After about 30 minutes of hanging out with him and my friends Danny, Marc, Tim, and I left and went to Barnaby's and we left my friend James at John Morton's because he was not 21 and could not get into Barnaby's. Once our Uber delivered Danny, Marc, Tim and I to Barnaby's we Treated out friend Danny to more Shots, and drinks. We were all having a great time socializing and have a fun time. 2.00 pm creeped up quicker than we could of imagined and it was time to order another Uber to take us back to Tim's house to debrief our night. Once the Uber took Danny, Tim, Marc, and I back to Tim's house our friend James' called asking if he could come back to Tim's house. We invited James' back to the house. About 20 minutes passed and James was welcomed into the house, and then Will and his friend followed in the house a few minutes later, after there walk from John Mortons. Uninvited but we still welcomed Will and his friend into the house as we were debriefing and getting ready to part ways to get sleep for the next day, My brother will got up and walked out side, I followed him outside thinking we could walk home together as we never really hang out. As I walked out of the door I was unprovokely struck in the face by Will. As what i believe to be only a few seconds of passed I regained Consciousness and was able to put my legs up to prevent him from gaining a mount on me to ground in pound. In the daze of the moment I was kicking him off me for what felt like a minute until my friends opened the door saw what was happening and grabbed him off of me. When this happened knowing that he carries a fire arm I ran dawn the street and called 991, as I hide in someone's back yard. The Aftermath When I got to the ER I was given a few stitches in my lip, received a CAT Scan, and had to have an emergency Dentist appointment first thing Monday morning. The Dentist had to give me a Bridge on my teeth which acts as Braces in a sense to stabilize my teeth in hopes that my teeth can be saved, The dentist reminded me that More than likely I'm going to lose both of my front teeth but This gives me a chance to save at least one of them, or in a miracle both. After this happened I realized that my brother definitely has something mentally wrong with him, for him to unprovoked knock my front two teeth out, and then try to possibly kill me. I had to get a restraining order on him, which also takes away his right to bear arms. I'm going to have to sue my brother for what is already over $5,000 in medical bill and if I do need to get my teeth replaced, will be more towards $20,000. And I also had to get paper's for him to be mentally evaluated. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

12) Research Paper Reflection [Categories: Research Paper, Where to Invade Next, Reflection]: Please complete the following:
Introduction After writing the first draft of my research paper, I watched the video Reflective Writing, I will be annotating the video Reflective Writing by SkillsTeamHullUni. This blog will also answer the above questions with thoughtful answers. Annotate Reflective Writing After watching the video Reflective Writing by SkillsTeamHullUni I found out that reflective writing is primary about looking at past events and learning from your mistakes, to correct them for your future events. You also need to focus on your thoughts and feelings to reflect on why I am making these decisions in my writings, compared to asking yourself what, when, who, and where. Most importantly you should be learning making your reflections which this segment from the video shows how you should properly use reflection to maximize your learning. Provide thoughtful answers to these questions:

11) Annotated Bibliography [Categories: Where to Invade Next, Research Paper]: Please complete the following:
Introduction Every developed country in the would has one thing in common, mandated paid vacation days, and holiday pay. Ranging from Italy's 20 mandated vacation days and 10 paid holidays for a total of 30 paid days off, to Japan's and Canada's total of 10 paid days off. Then there is a the United States of American with a whooping 0 days, yes 0. In today's blog post, I will write four sources along with summaries, evaluation and an explanation how this source material is relevant for my research paper. Research question: Should the American government legally require companies to provide paid vacation for the full-time workforce? Source #1 WORK HOURS, WAGES, AND VACATION LEAVE JOSEPH G. ALTONJI and EMIKO USUI* http://content.ebscohost.com/ContentServer.asp?EbscoContent=dGJyMNLr40Sep7I4zOX0OLCmr0%2Bep7RSr6y4SrSWxWXS&ContentCustomer=dGJyMOPY7Ya3r69T69fnhrnb4ovf5ucA&T=P&P=AN&S=R&D=buh&K=24257245 Summarize This article shows how much Americans work, and take vacations, in comparison to their individual wages, in America. The article shows how some American workers do get paid vacation even though they are not required to but it clearly shows that American's need more vacation time then they are given. Evaluation This article shows that Americans need more vacation time, and that vacation time must be mandated by the government for full-time workers, like the rest of the world. almost every American Exceeds their "vacation time". Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper. This is great reinforcement for my Research paper that shows how americans need mandated vacation time. source #2 Why Germans have longer vacation times and more productivity by Glen Stansberry. Sept 28, 210 Summarize This article is focused on how working less hours a week, and with mandated weeks of vacation still yield similar results. It also focuses on how giving you employees more vacation time leads to a more work focused environment and less as a place to just "clock in" at. Evaluation American's work too much where they lose the drive to be proactive at work, and it becomes a more routine environment, compared to Germany with all of the vacation time that gives them down time so that they come back to work after a break and work significantly more efficient. Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper. This will be used to demonstrate how the workers lose motivation and the work place becomes more of a social environment because they are always there. Source #3 If you want a raise, try taking a vacation. Abigail Hess. Wed, 24 may 2017. Summarize This article focuses on how taking vacation helps other businesses because you have time to spend money that you've worked hard to for. The other main focus shows how taking a break from work improves your work ethics with facts. It has real statistics that show people who have taking vacation's have a better chance to get promoted. Evaluation This helps American's recharge to accomplish higher peak productivity levels when they are working. Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper I will be able to use the direct statistics to use as a leading supporting factor. Source #4 Why Happy Employees Are 12% More Productive By Jonha Revesncio. July 22, 2015. Summarize This article decided to focus on how workers that are happy contribute more towards the workplace. Not only in time, but in productivity. It also focuses on how financial incentives such as bonuses are not enough to make an employee happy, time off and other incentives make a person more happy, and of course a happier employee is a more productive employee. Evaluation It also focuses on how the vast majority of workers do not enjoy their work environment resulting in lost profits, and a waste of the employees' time that furthers them into the feeling of a rut. Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper. I will use this to be a major supporting factor that vacations make people happier, and happier workers are 12% more productive! Source #5 Save Our Vacation by Dickey Jack June first 2015. Summarize This journal focus on how the US is the only developed country in the world that does not have guaranteed vacation days. It also list the main reason's why American's don't want to; can't go on vacation. It also talks about how American's are over worked, and how being over worked is a leading factor in why American's trail in the ratings of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which is the the favored metric for workforce productivity. Evaluation American's need to take more vacations to create better Morales for the country as a whole, to be more happy, and satisfied with our lives. Productivity may even rise according to this journal. Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper. This journal is a supporting factor being it brings in official documents from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, that support that Americans are over worked and it is a leading factor in us trailing from the other developed countries. Source #6 Paid time off from work? What's that? Cathy Payne, 05/24/2013. Summarize This short journal contains a lot of factual comparisons about how America has no paid vacations days, especially for the jobs that do not pay very well. This journal also focuses on how being over worked, leads to poor productivity. Evaluation Unless you have a great job, you most likely will not get paid vacation, and even if you do have a good job, their is a still a chance you are not entitled to a paid vacation. Explain how the source material is relevant for your research paper. I will be able to use the quote "We need it for the health and well-being of our workers," he says. "We also need it for businesses, because people who are forced to work every single day lose productivity." to support my research paper in how American's are over worked. Week 10
10) Where to Invade Next? An Argument. [Categories: Where to Invade Next, Research Paper]: Please complete the following:
This blog seems to be my favorite blog of the year, in this blog I will be arguing three topics that Michael Moore "stole" from other countries in the documentary Where to Invade Next, I'll create a research question on my desired topic and write a brief argument that responds to the research questions. if you haven't watched Where to Invade Next, you can read my summary Blog #9 that explains Michael Moore's ideas. Research question #1 Topic: Legalization of all drugs in America Research Question: Should America legalize the use of all drugs? Argument: This question to me should get a simple no, and that should justify question #1, but for my grades sake I'll go a little more into detail. The number of opioid deaths in America have increased more than 200% from 2000-2014 in America (avg of 91 deaths a day), while their are annually 64,000 drug overdosed deaths a year. The drug crisis in America is so bad that The president had to declare a national public health emergency, in order to combat to lethal addiction. Legalizing the spread of heroin and other drugs will lead to many more American's dying. if you care to look at a few charts about drugs, and drug related deaths please visit this website. Research question #2 Topic: Required vacation time Research Question: Should American companies be forced to give American workers paid vacation? Argument: I find it disgusting that American's companies are not required to give American workers at least a week of paid vacation. This is one of the things that American's should steal from Italy and almost the rest of the world. I believe that getting paid vacation should be absolutely mandatory. Vacation gives workers something to look forward to. I never realized how I take my week of paid vacation for granted, even if it is just a lousy week. Research question #3 Topic: Death sentence and prison time Research Question: Should America abolish the death sentence and add a maximum of 21 year prison sentence regardless of the crime? Argument: I do not believe this was one of the greatest ideas, that Michael Moore decided to bring to America. I find it ridiculous that the person who shot up the island of kids participating in a summer camp, will receive a maximum of 21 years in imprisonment. I believe that an individual who decides to commit these kind of terrible actions do not have a place on this Earth, after a fair trail. Week 9
9) Summary of Where to Invade Next [Category: Where to Invade Next, Summary]: Please complete the following:
Summary In the documentary Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore "invaded" Italy, France, Finland, Slovenia, Germany, Portugal, Norway, Tunisia, and Iceland. When he went to every country he decided to steal their ideas, and plant the american flag in every country after he stole their ideas. Italy When Michael Moore decided to invade Italy he thought that we should steal their idea of two hour lunch breaks, and spending time with our families. Italians are also entitled to four weeks of vacation. France When Michael Moore invaded France he decided to Focus on the school lunches and how they received a much more nutritious and appetizing lunch during school hours for a cheaper price than Americans. The people of France also have a lower teenage pregnancy rate than Americans because they do not believe in teaching abstinence. Finland While in Finland Michael decided to steal the idea of no homework, and shorter school days along with no using multiple choice questions in order to achieve having the best schooling system in the world. In Finland all schools perform at the same level and receive the same education there is no "shopping for school" in Finland. Slovenia Slovenia provides free schooling for everyone, even foreigners. This allows students to graduate from school with out having to worry about being in debt, it allows everyone to prosper and live a more enjoyable life. Germany When Michael invaded Germany I believe this is where he found the most valuable policies. In Germany the middle class is a thriving. "work is work, when work is over it's over" This allows their people to work the 36 hour weeks and when their work week is over they do not have to worry about work. It is actually illegal to contact someone on vacation, and during off-work hours in Germany. Portugal While I personally don't believe this idea should be stolen Michael Moore believed that Portugal has a lot to offer with the legalization of all drugs such as pills, heroin, cocaine, and any other drugs that a person desires. Norway While I personally don't believe this idea either should be stolen Michael Moore believed that Norway has a great prison system where regardless the significance of the crime a person will not receive the death penalty and that they will not serve more than a 21 sentence. Tunisia While invading Tunisia Michael Moore was surprised to see that Tunisia offer free birth control to everyone, including iud, condoms, pills, and even abortion. he was also informed on how the dictatorship was over thrown and then the next government "stepped down" after denying women the right to vote. Iceland After invading Iceland Michael Moore found out that, Iceland has a forced diversity workforce, where you have quotas in your work force, where it must be a no more than 60% of one sex in the workforce. I am not a fan of quotas because it forces people who aren't always the most eligible to get the job anyway and is completely unfair to the person more eligible for the job. |
